Dublin Whiskey & Brewery Day Coach Tour from Dublin

Five to six hours between Dublin's distilleries and the Guinness Storehouse. All of them are a short drive apart in the Liberties and Smithfield. The vehicle does the driving, so everyone in your group can take the tastings.

What the day covers

  • Jameson Distillery Bow St.
  • Guinness Storehouse
  • Teeling Whiskey Distillery
  • Optional Roe & Co

When it runs

  • Year-round; peaks in March and December

Running order

A common order starts at Teeling on Newmarket in the Liberties, a guided tour of about 45 minutes with at least an hour allowed. Lunch is at the Guinness Storehouse at St James's Gate, which needs the longest stop of the day. Roe and Co can be added nearby. The day ends at Jameson Distillery Bow St. in Smithfield, across the Liffey, where the experience runs about 45 minutes. Eat properly at lunch; three tastings on an empty stomach make for a slow afternoon.

Booking the tasting slots

Every stop sells timed tours, and demand peaks in March, around St Patrick's Day, and in December. Teeling takes bookings of up to 15 on its public tours online; a bigger party should contact the distillery's reservations team. Jameson Bow St. handles groups of 15 or more through its group bookings desk. Book the Storehouse to follow your first slot, and leave 20 to 30 minutes between each booking for loading and the drive.

Getting around the city by minibus

The tour uses a 7-seat executive van or a 16 to 19-seat minibus, which fit the Liberties streets better than a full coach. Market Street beside the Storehouse is reserved for coaches. Elsewhere the driver uses signed set-down points, because Dublin's on-street coach spaces are for parking, not loading. Crossing to Smithfield means a route that keeps clear of the daytime bus gates on the central quays.

Who books it

The day suits company teams and conference partners, milestone birthdays, and visitors in Dublin for St Patrick's week or the Christmas season. Tastings are for adults, and staff may ask for proof of age, so everyone should carry photo ID. If anyone in the party does not drink, tell the distilleries when you book.

Can the minibus drop us at a pub or restaurant afterwards?

Yes. Give the operator the finish address when you book. The driver uses the nearest point where a vehicle may stop, which is not always the door in Temple Bar or on the quays.

Is a half day long enough for three distilleries and the Storehouse?

For three stops, yes. Adding Roe and Co as a fourth makes a full six hours and leaves less time at each.
