Emerald Park Group Day Coach Tour from Dublin

A group day at Emerald Park, near Ashbourne in County Meath, running 7 to 8 hours door to door with most of it in the park. The coach's job is to arrive at the time the park gives you and to bring everyone back with a correct headcount.

What the day covers

  • Emerald Park rides and zoo
  • Group entry co-ordination
  • Supervised loading and headcounts

When it runs

  • March to October, plus the Halloween season

Getting there and arrival time

The coach leaves the M50 at junction 5 for the M2, carries on to the end of the motorway, takes the N2 towards Slane and turns onto the R155 to the park entrance at Kilbrew. The park has coach parking for larger groups. The park sets your group's entry time. Plan to be there for it, because the ride queues are shortest at opening and grow through the late morning.

Booking with the park

School tours must be pre-booked with Emerald Park, and group bookings are paid in full before the group is let in. Agree your entry time with the park first, then give it to the operator, who works back from it to set the pick-up. The park opens from March to October and again for its Halloween season. Opening days vary, so check the date before you book.

Loading, headcounts and supervision

Loading is supervised and the group is counted on and off at every stop. Teachers or leaders hold the list. Passengers aged three and over must wear seat belts where they are fitted and must be told so, and every child carried needs their own belt or restraint on the bus. Driving a vehicle used only to carry children is work that needs Garda vetting, and drivers on youth work hold current vetting. Agree one fixed meeting point and a return time, and give the leaders the driver's name.

Vehicle size

The vehicles run from a 16-seat minibus for a youth club to a double decker of about 80 seats, the largest single vehicle for a whole year group. One vehicle means one headcount and one meeting point. If you need two coaches, give each a leader and a list. The day suits primary and secondary schools, summer camps, scout and sports clubs, and company family days.

Does the coach stay at the park all day?

Whether the vehicle waits on site or returns for the pick-up is set out on the quote. Either way, the return time is fixed before you leave Dublin.

What if a child is missing at the return time?

The coach does not leave until the leaders have the full count. Leaders handle the search with park staff, and the driver holds the coach and keeps the operator informed.
