Order and roads
Adare is about 18 km south-west of Limerick on the N21, around twenty-five minutes. Bunratty is about 15 km the other way, just off the N18 towards Shannon Airport. Going between them, the quickest road is the N18 Limerick Southern Ring Road, which passes through the tolled Limerick Tunnel under the Shannon. With a banquet, do Adare first and Bunratty in the afternoon; without one, either order works. Group size alone sets the vehicle, anywhere between a 16-seater and a 49-seat coach.
Adare
Coach access in Adare is restricted, so the coach uses the free car and coach park behind the Adare Heritage Centre on Main Street. The thatched cottages, the Augustinian friary and the park are all within a short walk. The Heritage Centre also runs guided tours of Desmond Castle and has a restaurant. The grounds of Adare Manor are private; your group sees the manor from the village side. Ninety minutes in Adare is a comfortable stop.
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park
Bunratty opens daily from 9am to 5.30pm, with last admission to the castle at 4pm and to the Folk Park at 4.30pm, so the afternoon visit must start in time. The site suggests three to four hours for both at a relaxed pace. Parking is free. The Folk Park is mostly outdoors and largely wheelchair accessible. The banquet in the castle's Great Hall is a four-course meal with music, and reservations are essential.
Does the coach wait during the medieval banquet?
Yes, that is how the evening is planned: the vehicle stays at Bunratty and takes the group back to Limerick afterwards. Add the banquet when you ask for the quote.
How far ahead should we book the banquet?
As early as you can. Sittings fill weeks ahead, especially in summer, and a group needs seats together. Confirm the sitting time before the day plan is fixed.
