Kilkenny to Wexford by Coach or Minibus
Kilkenny to Wexford is about an hour and ten minutes, crossing from the Nore valley to the coast. None of it is motorway. A stop at New Ross turns the transfer into a half day of heritage.

The route through New Ross
The direct route takes the R700 out of Kilkenny through Bennettsbridge, Thomastown and Inistioge, crossing the Nore twice and then the Barrow into New Ross. From New Ross, the N25 runs east to Wexford. The R700 is a regional road through villages and river bridges, so the operator may pick a different line for a large coach. Either way, expect a rural road with slower stretches rather than a motorway run.
Stopping at New Ross
The Dunbrody Famine Ship, a replica emigrant ship on the quay in New Ross, has coach parking on site and a guided tour of about an hour. Groups and school tours are welcome, and the ship takes group bookings directly. The Kennedy Homestead at Dunganstown, near New Ross, is another stop on the same corridor. Either breaks the journey neatly, with lunch in New Ross before the last leg to Wexford.
Arriving in Wexford
Wexford's Main Street is narrow and largely pedestrian, so coaches set down along the quay rather than in the town centre. Ask the driver to confirm the exact stop, especially for a hotel on the edge of town or an evening event. In late autumn the Wexford Festival Opera fills the town and the National Opera House, so book early if your trip falls then.
How long does the trip take?
Roughly seventy minutes without stops. A visit to the Dunbrody Famine Ship adds about an hour and a half, including parking and a short break.
Is the road suitable for a full-size coach?
Yes, though the regional roads are slower than a motorway. The operator chooses the best route for the vehicle.
Can we visit the Irish National Heritage Park as well?
Yes. It is just outside Wexford town at Ferrycarrig, and fits easily before or after a set-down in town.
