Kilkenny to Dublin by Coach or Minibus
Kilkenny groups head to Dublin for hurling at Croke Park, rugby at the Aviva, shows, shopping and the odd ferry from Dublin Port. It is about an hour and three quarters on the motorway. Supporters' clubs and social groups usually want a same-day return, which shapes the whole plan.

Northbound
The coach leaves Kilkenny on the N10 and joins the M9 north. Near Kilcullen the M9 merges into the M7, and the coach follows it past Naas to the edge of the city. Heading into the centre on the N7, the coach crosses the M50 at the Red Cow without using the tolled section between junctions 6 and 7. A drop on the north side of the city, reached by driving around the M50, does pass that toll.
Croke Park and big match days
On recent All-Ireland final days, Garda traffic arrangements left no coach drop-off, pickup or parking close to the stadium, and stopping on the main roads around Jones’ Road was not allowed. Supporters' coaches were sent to park in the Docklands instead. So for a final or a big championship day, expect to be set down some distance away and to walk. Agree the collection point with the driver before the group leaves the coach.
A long day
A match or a show in Dublin with a return to Kilkenny the same night makes for a long day. Under the drivers’ hours rules, 4.5 hours at the wheel must be followed by a 45-minute break, and daily driving has a ceiling. Give the operator the event finish time and your planned departure, and they will plan the driving and the waiting around those rules.
Can the coach drop us outside Croke Park?
Not on major match days. Coaches set down further away and often park at the Docklands coach park; the driver confirms the walk.
How long does the trip take?
Allow an hour and three quarters, longer at rush hour on the M7 and N7 or on a big match day.
Does the coach wait in Dublin for the return?
It can, usually at a coach park. The waiting time and arrangements are written on the quote.
