Drogheda to Dublin Airport by Coach or Minibus

Dublin Airport is the gateway for the whole Boyne Valley, about 40 minutes south of Drogheda on the M1. The run works in both directions: departures for groups staying in Louth and Meath, and arrivals for wedding guests, heritage tours and teams heading north to their hotel.

Down the M1

From Drogheda the coach joins the M1 southbound and passes the toll plaza at Balgeen, which sits between Junction 7 at Julianstown and the Drogheda junctions. The plaza takes cash, cards and electronic tags. From there it is a straight motorway run past Balbriggan to Junction 2 for the airport. The approach to the airport and the M50 interchange is busiest in the weekday morning peak, so early flights need a margin.

Departures: setting down

Coaches cannot use the Terminal 1 departures road. The drop is made at Terminal 2, on the kerb by its check-in hall: the group unloads and the coach pulls away at once, with no parking and no idling allowed. Passengers for Terminal 1 walk across from Terminal 2. Give the operator the airline and terminal for each part of the group so the arrival time at the kerb allows for the walk and the bag drop.

Arrivals: meeting the group

Terminal kerbs are off-limits for pickups, so arriving groups walk to Zone 16, where private-hire coaches wait. From Terminal 1, passengers follow the signs for Zone 16 and the coach park through the short-term car park. From Terminal 2 they cross the covered pedestrian bridge and go down to ground level. With the flight number in hand, the operator times the pickup to the actual landing; send the group a note of the Zone 16 route before they fly.

What happens if the flight is late?

Include the flight number on the booking. The pickup follows the real landing time rather than the timetable, and any waiting arrangements are set out in the quote terms.

Where does the coach wait while we clear arrivals?

In the airport's coach facilities, not at the terminal. Coaches may not park outside the buildings at any time, so the group walks to Zone 16 to board.
