Bray to Greystones by Coach or Minibus

Greystones is the next town south of Bray, about 15 minutes away by road. Groups book this short leg for weddings, club fixtures, school runs and nights out. Many also ask about the cliff walk between the two towns, which is closed at present.

The cliff walk is closed

Wicklow County Council has closed the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk because parts of the cliff and the path are at risk of failure. Reopening depends on engineering, environmental and planning approvals, and the council has given no firm date. Do not build a day around a one-way walk with a coach waiting at the far end until the council says the path is open again. Check its updates before you book.

The road between the towns

The direct road is the R761, which leaves Bray to the south and runs inland of Bray Head into Greystones. The driver may use the M11 instead to skip Bray's main street when it is busy. Either way the distance is short. What moves the time is school and commuter traffic in Bray in the morning, and the narrower streets around the harbour at the Greystones end.

Stops in Greystones

There is no published coach set-down in Greystones, so the driver confirms the stopping point before the day. The harbour and marina, the main street and the DART station are the obvious targets for a group. Hotels, churches and wedding venues on the edge of town often have an entrance a coach can use, but tell the operator the exact address so the access can be checked.

Running a shuttle

A 15-minute leg suits a shuttle. One vehicle can carry guests from a Bray hotel to a church or venue in Greystones and go back for a second load if the party is bigger than the seats. Agree the number of runs, the last pickup time and a single collection point in advance. For a late finish, one larger vehicle is often simpler than several minibus trips.

Can you drop us in Bray and collect us in Greystones after the cliff walk?

Only once Wicklow County Council has reopened the path. Until then, a drop and collect between the towns works for a group using an inland route the council recommends, or for a visit to Greystones itself.

Is it worth hiring a vehicle for such a short trip?

For a group in formal clothes, with older guests, young children or kit to carry, it saves a walk to the station and a wait on the platform. For a few able walkers, the DART between Bray Daly and Greystones is the simple option.
