Dublin Airport to Athlone by Coach or Minibus
This is an arrival run. Your group lands at Dublin, meets the coach at the airport coach park, and is in Athlone about an hour and a half later. The things to settle before the day are the flight details, the luggage count and where in Athlone each person is staying.

Meeting the coach at the airport
Dublin Airport sends every private-hire coach pickup to one place: the coach park known as Zone 16. The bus stops outside the terminals belong to scheduled services, so after baggage reclaim your group wheels its cases over to Zone 16. Send the operator the flight number and the scheduled landing time, and say how many people are on each flight if the group is split. The pickup is planned around the actual arrival, not the booking time.
The road west
The coach leaves the airport on the M1 and goes south on the M50. Between junctions 6 and 7 the M50 is tolled electronically; there is no booth and no stop. At junction 7 it joins the N4 and M4 west, through the Kilcock-Kinnegad toll point, and at Kinnegad it takes the M6 to Athlone. The Athlone Service Area, on the M6 just east of the town, is a handy place to stop or to meet a second vehicle.
Luggage and the vehicle
An airport group usually travels with a suitcase each and hand luggage on top. A full-size coach has underfloor bays that take that easily. A 16-seat minibus has much less room at the back, and a club group with golf bags or sports kit can fill it with bags long before every seat is taken. Give the operator a bag count as well as a passenger count.
Setting down in Athlone
Most groups go straight to a hotel, either in the town centre by the river or out at Hodson Bay on Lough Ree. If the group is checking in later, there is a public coach bay beside Athlone Castle for stops of up to 15 minutes, and four bus bays on Elliott Road. The town straddles the Shannon, and the bridge streets are slow, so a hotel with its own car park makes the drop easier.
What if our flight is delayed?
The operator tracks the flight from its number and times the pickup to the real landing. How long the driver can wait, and on what terms, is on the quote.
Where exactly do we meet the driver?
In Zone 16, the airport's coach park for pre-booked private coaches. The operator confirms the meeting arrangements before you travel.
