The road north
From the airport the coach heads north on the N17 through Charlestown, where the N5 crosses, and on through Tubbercurry to Collooney. At Collooney the N17 meets the N4, which takes the coach the last few kilometres into Sligo. Most of the towns on the way are bypassed, the road is single carriageway for most of its length, and there are no tolls.
Meeting the group at Knock
Knock has one terminal. No coach park appears in the airport's published information, and vehicles may not wait in the set-down area in front of the building; the airport sends people collecting arrivals to its own car park. Settle where the group meets the driver before travel day. Share the flight number so the collection is tied to when the plane actually lands.
Arriving in Sligo
On Markievicz Road, near the centre of Sligo, the county council keeps a coach-only area for setting down and collecting, and other vehicles found there are ticketed. Hotels are mostly in the town centre, at Rosses Point or at Strandhill, and the coach goes on to each where the entrance allows.
Pilgrims and Knock Shrine
The shrine at Knock lies around 20 km away, south of the airport and so away from Sligo. Pilgrim groups who fly in often go there first; coaches use the shrine's North Car Park, off the road to Ballyhaunis. Crowds peak during the August Novena and on first Saturdays.
