Airport Transfers in Bray

Bray sits on the Wicklow coast about 40 km from Dublin Airport, a 40 to 50 minute run on the M11 and M50. Groups use the town as a base for Wicklow weddings, golf and walking holidays, so the airport leg is often the first or last drive of a longer trip.

One airport, two ways round Dublin

Dublin is the airport for Bray; no other is close. The usual line is the M11 north to its end at the M50, then the western half of the ring road to the airport junction on the M1. That route crosses the barrier-free M50 toll on the stretch between the Lucan and Blanchardstown junctions. Coaches pay it like other vehicles but never stop, because the charge goes through by tag or account, or online by 8pm the day after. The alternative goes in through the city to the Port Tunnel, untolled for coaches of more than 25 seats, yet from Bray the city streets usually cost more time than skipping the toll saves. Weekday peaks on the M50 can stretch the run well past 50 minutes.

Meeting arrivals bound for Wicklow

A hired coach cannot wait outside Terminal 1 or Terminal 2; it picks up in the Zone 16 coach park. Guests from Terminal 1 reach it through the short-term car park, and guests from Terminal 2 over the covered footbridge and down to the walkway at ground level. Wedding parties are the classic Bray booking here, with guests flying in on different days and different airlines. Send the operator a simple list of flights, landing times and names per flight. With that, the operator can say whether one coach should wait for a cluster of landings or whether two smaller vehicles make more sense, and it watches each flight so a delay moves the pickup rather than leaving people standing.

Narrow lanes south and west of Bray

Bray’s own hotels line the seafront and the town centre, but many groups stay further out, at Enniskerry and Powerscourt or in Greystones, each about 15 minutes away. Country-house venues and the roads into the Wicklow Mountains are a different job from the motorway. A full-size coach of 12 to 14 metres is at home on the M11 but may not suit a lane to a wedding venue; a midi coach of around 10.5 metres copes more easily. Give the operator the venue and which gate to use, ask whether a coach can turn at the door, and mention any steep or tight approach you know of. Some parties split it: a coach to the hotel and a separate car for the couple.

Bags, golf clubs and the flight home

Holiday luggage fills a vehicle before the seats do. In a full coach each passenger’s case goes in the underfloor bays. A Sprinter Travel 75, a common 16 to 19 seat minibus, carries luggage in a rear compartment of about 2 cubic metres, which runs out quickly with large cases, golf bags or a buggy, so put the count in the request. On the way back, coaches cannot drive on the Terminal 1 departures road. Instead every operator unloads at Terminal 2, on the road signed T2 Departures Road Inner, and drives off once the hold is empty; Terminal 1 passengers walk across. Set the Bray pickup from the bag-drop deadline, then add the drive and a margin for the M50.

Is there a toll between Bray and the airport?

On the usual M11 and M50 route, yes: the barrier-free section near Lucan. With no booth to stop at, the coach keeps moving. Going through the city and the Port Tunnel avoids it, but that way is rarely faster from Bray. The quote shows how tolls are handled.

Can we collect guests in Bray, Greystones and Enniskerry on one trip?

Yes, if every stop is listed when you ask for the quote. Each extra stop adds a few minutes, and some are tighter for a large coach than others. For a group spread across three places, agreeing one meeting point in each keeps the timing realistic.

Can a Wicklow tour begin straight from the airport?

Yes. A group landing in the morning can head for Powerscourt or Glendalough first and reach its Bray hotel in the evening. Glendalough is about 45 minutes from Bray. Tell the operator at booking, because the luggage travels in the hold all day and the driver’s hours have to cover the whole plan.
